Let’s Talk Habits: Small Steps, Big Changes

We all know the power of habits, but have you ever considered how even the smallest ones can lead to significant transformations in your life? It’s like the magic of compound interest in your bank account—tiny, consistent actions that, over time, build into something substantial and life-changing.

I’ve experienced this firsthand. After a stretch of travelling, my sleep routine was all over the place. I knew I needed to make a change, so I added two small habits to my nightly routine. The difference has been remarkable! These little changes are compounding over time, leading to a noticeable improvement in my sleep quality and overall wellbeing.

Two small habits have made a world of difference in my sleep routine.

The first is using Valerian essential oil in a diffuser—I turn it on before bed, letting the calming scent fill the room and set the tone for restful sleep The second is applying a sleep stick of essential oils called Lavender Peace and it’s become a soothing ritual that helps me unwind.

You might think these small habits sound too good to be true, but the impact has been huge on my sleep patterns and overall sleep hygiene. And when your sleep improves, so does your energy, focus, and ability to take consistent action toward your goals.

But don’t just take my word for it. As James Clear, author of Atomic Habits, says, “This is the meaning of the phrase atomic habits — a regular practice or routine that is not only small and easy to do, but also the source of incredible power; a component of the system of compound growth.”

So, if you’re feeling stuck, lacking motivation, or struggling to stay focused and move forward, remember that change doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

Small, consistent actions CAN move you forward.

What small habit can you add to your day? What will you do to ensure it becomes consistent?

At Attentive Coaching, I’m here to be your accountability partner, helping you maintain momentum and achieve your goals without the weight of guilt or frustration.

Ready to take that first step? Let’s make those habits work for you!
